Summer of 2023 is Seabrook’s biggest summer yet! With new merchants and town amenities opening doors for the first time, there’s even more excitement to the buzzing beach town than in a typical coastal summer. The newest addition is the retro-themed Arcade that has brought in a wave of nostalgic and new games to a revamped space in the previous Fresh Foods Popup location.
The owner of the Arcade, James Austin, brings years of experience to this new town highlight. Through a combination of the Seabrook team and James’ vision of the arcade, the interior feels like stepping back in time to the 80s with bright colors and lights and the familiar sounds of new and traditional arcade games that will have kids and adults grinning ear-to-ear.
“Get ready for the sickest little arcade you’ve ever seen,” says James. “I’m excited about the new style of it and excited for the retro area.”
James likens the decor choices to similar to what we see in Stranger Things or in the flashback arcade scene in the popular show The Last Of Us with a distinctive aesthetic that we all know and love immediately when we see it. The main level of the arcade is full of classic arcade games and things to do, from skee-ball, hoop shooting, a boxing machine, a photo booth, fortune-telling machine, claw machines, and other games.
What makes the Arcade so special is the loft space that’s been opened up and remodeled into its own “retro-corner” with games many of us grew up playing with family and friends. Head upstairs for hours of play on games like PacMan, pinball, Mortal Combat, Defender, Centipede, Asteroids, and more. This space is perfect for players that want to play lots of games without splurging as each swipe per game is equivalent to a quarter, shares James.
There’s no need to worry about holding a bunch of tokens and stacking up tickets for the big payoff. The Arcade games use the modern and convenient card and virtual ticketing system where the tickets can be exchanged for traditional arcade-style prizes. There are prizes for everyone to love at the arcade, from classic plush toys to novelty items, and more.
James has decades of experience in the games and amusement industry and currently owns Pacific Paradise in Ocean Shores that he has refreshed and remodeled throughout his four years since taking it over. His enthusiasm and expertise has made the Arcade a fun, inviting space for people of all ages and we can’t wait for a summer full of games and fun in this new town addition.
Stop by the Arcade Sunday through Thursday from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM and Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM and follow their Instagram for the latest games and news!
