Hi Lisa. We just bought Lot 237 (Madison Lane) ... we looked at the bunk beds in Beachy Keen ... love 'em!

Did you find a tax accountant for vacation homes? I think we'll need some help!

thanks -- Lisa

As our community grows, we've been working behind the scenes to create Seabrook's first school!

We have heard from several homeowners that having a school would make their permanent move to Seabrook a possibility. Our plan is to open the school in the Fall for 1st-6th grade and also hope to be opening a pre-school/daycare as well.

Thanks to everyone who joined us for the Seabrook Montessori School Webinar - we had a great discussion about the feasibility and promise of the school at Seabrook.

If you weren't able to join us live during the webinar, here is a full recording of the meeting. Please allow a few seconds for the video to load.

If you have any questions or comments, please email Casey at casey@seabrookwa.com.

To learn more about the concept of Montessori, visit the Montessori Resources page for videos on why this type of school would work well at Seabrook.

See you at the beach!

Hi,

My name is Tricia Anderson. My husband Jeff & I own Seastar Cottage. We live in Renton, WA and have a 6 year old son and 2.5 year old daughter. We purchased our home in Fall 2006 (construction was completed in June 2007) after spending a week with extended family at Central Park & spending lots of time talking with Casey (whom we adore, along with his Mom Robyn, sister Darcie and the rest of the Roloff clan).

We will be at Seabrook over Labor Day weekend. Post if you will also be there at that time. It would be nice to meet other homeowners.

We just put our house, The Beachy Keen, in the rental pool. I'm an accountant, but don't specialize in tax. Tax accounting for vacation homes seems to have a few interesting quirks...Just wondering if all you who are in the rental pool are enlisting the help of tax preparers, or are you doing it yourself? I'm tempted to get someone to help with the first year and then I'll take it from there. Any thoughts? Any names of tax professionals who specialize in vacation home rentals? Seattle area?
Thanks! Lisa Greenough

Hi, This is Lisa Greenough. My husband Jeff and I purchased the Beachy Keen at Beach Camp and it recently entered the rental pool. We have 2 kids...ages 8 and 12. We fell in love with Seabrook the night we drove in at 9pm, saw the stars in the sky, heard the ocean surf and took a bike ride in the dark. Love at first sight!
We're excited to get to know our Seabrook neighbors...so write in!

We have been using Coast Communications for service since July 2007 and haven't experienced any problems. We typically use the house for one week at a time (twice a year), while it is in the rental pool for the rest of the time. No one from property management has informed us about service issues. Have you spoken to them to see if anyone else is haviong a problem?

It may be a modem issue (not a wireless router issue). Here in Seattle, we were having internet connectively problems on a daily basis with Comcast. The quickest way to fix it was for me to reset our modem. When we moved to a new house, I requested a new modem. That was 6 weeks ago and we have not experienced any outages since then. Ask Coast to provide a new modem and see if that works.

Good luck.

We have cable and internet from Coast Communications. We seem to end up not being able to connect to the internet pretty frequently (or worse, our renters cannot) and have to call Coast and ask them to reset their router (not ours) to solve the issue. Does anyone else have similar issues and / or know if DSL throuch CenturyLink is more reliable?

Mike,

We were also surpised at how expensive it is to insure a 2nd/vacation/rental home. After finding that most standard home insurance agencies don't even offer policies we went through Chris Raders who was recommended by Holly.

Chris is a great guy to work with. He got us several quotes and was in constant contact as our house was being built. We went with Scottsdale Insurance, which was the least expensive of the quotes. Honestly though, I didn't do a lot of other shopping around.

I think Chris has worked with several Seabrook homeowners.

My wife Cindy and I are owners of Weldin House on Fireside Ln. We think the homeowners forum is a great idea and would like to thank Seabrook for making it happen. Like many others we only use our home occasionally and rent it out the rest of the time. We have found that home insurance for this type of activity is very expensive and we had to go outside of the normal home owner insurers. Does anyone have a good contact where they have obtained insurance for a reasonable price? Thanks for any ideas anyone has. Hope to see you at Seabrook. The Weldins.
